There must have been something special in the water in 2011. Hobbies and passions lead our family business down two new paths: planting a vineyard and bottling our first cider for sale to the public.
As a family business we pride ourselves on an absolute passion for taste and flavour. From the fruit to the glass, we set out to make drinks that excite your imagination, challenging ourselves and collaborating with others.
Ten years on and drinks are at the heart of Woolton Farm. Our wines are winning some of the most prestigious awards in the world and our cider is a leading player in the craft cider market, distributed across the UK and available in Kent and London’s best venues, from Michelin Starred restaurants to indie bottle shops, M&S, Shepherd Neame, Co-op and Eurostar.
We grow Bacchus, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
South facing aspect, on river gravel soils with sandy clays beneath. At only 145 feet above sea level and tucked beneath the top of the ridge, the vineyard enjoys a distinct and beneficial micro climate.
We only grow for ourselves meaning we can focus on quality over high yields and adapt to natural conditions with ease.
Our approach is all about small batches. We treat each year independently leaving room for creativity and spontaneity over formulation and consistency.
What People say
Cuvée No1 2015
"What a wonderful wine! The golden hue is just touched by a blush of pink, the smell is an intriguing, uplifting blend of bread crust and red apples and fresh Kent cob nuts and the taste is mighty, imperious, bursting with confident savoury croissant richness, slathered with clotted cream and scented with apple and orange blossom.
And through it all runs a glittering, pure line of lemon acidity."
Sparkling Rose 2014
"The nose has a complex and light scent of fresh bread and brioche, with red apple hints, which leads onto a rich biscuity, complex palate. It has a fine balance of apple and red fruits with evolved nut and brioche with a smooth, harmonious feel.
The wine is really well balanced and integrated, the mousse is mellow but tantalises the taste buds. This is drinking now but will hold for another 4 years."
